                                      SPY REPORT

     It is I, Novgorodny Vir, Spymaster of Spymasters.  Look on my work, ye mighty, 
and despair!  PERRY STRIKE FORCE?  Who?  WHEN EAGLES DARE is the top team these days, 
buddies!  Nothing works for a team like victory (How's that for a perceptive 
observation?) as ASSASSINS can attest...  WHEN EAGLES DARE posted a nice gain, to 
come in 1st.  Everybody loves a winner...  Practice pays for LINDA, who pummelled 
SNACKY DEFENDER, to pocket 23 points.  Win some, lose some.  Speaking of which, TOJIL 
was winsome, after beating LONDON FOG and seeing him lose 14 points.  Those who hoped 
for a new Duelmaster were disappointed by CONVICTED ASSASSIN, of ALJAFIR, who despite 
a 0-0-0 couldn't overcome ALJAFIR's Number 1.  Word has it one team in ALJAFIR is 
taking speech lessons to try to bore their opponent to death.  I'll bet it works.   
     So much to report, so little time!  Like a horde of jackals fleeing from the 
lion, so did the "warriors" in ALJAFIR avoid PERRY STRIKE FORCE.  The warriors of 
PERRY STRIKE FORCE found their efforts at combat frustrated as THE SHOWOFFS 
apparently had more important things to do than fight.  Everyone is famous for 
fifteen minutes, and AEGIR is it right now.  Most challenged warrior.  Isn't ERIDANUS 
proud!  Take heed ALJAFIR, of the unprincipled action of FARRELL.  By challenging 
AEGIR, 27 points below him, FARRELL besmirches the noble art of dueling.  FARRELL 
will have to start challenging legless old maids next, as he was beat by AEGIR.  Good 
show, AEGIR!  Them's the breaks, DISTINGUISHED.  Expecting fair challenges from THE 
SHOWOFFS is evidently too much to ask.  Next time BIG DUDE walks with his head high 
remind him of the fight where he challenged down 19 points and lost to DISTINGUISHED. 
Call 'im brash!  Call 'im brassy!  Call 'im brave!  Call 'im sassy!  NEIL AND will 
face YOU'RE NOT GOOD, up by 26.  Aaaah, just call 'im dead meat.  Fixed fights?  
Paybacks?  Blind luck?  Whatever, NEIL AND challenged YOU'RE NOT GOOD, NEIL AND the 
underdog by 26 points.   
     Is there life after death?  Pragmatics (and warriors) know there is death after 
life!  BIG DUDE of THE SHOWOFFS, possessing a sorry record of 16-16-0, lost his last 
battle to DISTINGUISHED of WHEN EAGLES DARE.  Young warriors, take note!  Such is a 
failure's lot!  More than one waitress at The Vile Vizier was spilling more drinks 
than usual last week, as GRAVE DANCER's early demise became known.  What will THE 
SHOWOFFS do???  Ask not for whom the sword slashes; it slashes for thee.   
     All good things must come to an end.  As the seasons change, and the creatures 
of the wild change also, so do I feel a yearning to leave this place.  Like a mixed 
metaphor, and an overtaxed simile, I now bid ALJAFIR farewell-- Novgorodny Vir
