Fellow Tularians! All around the birthday fire!

How driven are we, young and old, to Duel too!

I agree with "them" who say "a fulfilling life has three places: home, work, and a 
third place."

As a teen in the 1980s, after hours of homework each night in my strict but creative 
religious home, my third place was D&D, and I found Duelmasters in a Dragon magazine. 
My first team was Nemesis in the North Fork arena. My warriors were Ironbar, Lance, 
Phoenix, Bombadil, Sting, and Jabberwock. I called myself "Master G" -- haha, the 
folly of youth!

Since then, off and on over the decades, I've gone by too many names and explored too 
many themes with too many teams (diplo me for the long list if you're curious haha or 
want to share yours). I've loved that this game allows for that creative freedom to 
customize its written experience, while structuring play with its familiar core 
mechanics and simple user interface, plus with deadlines and a social aspect. It's 
kept me occupied, motivated, and coming back for more through many trials, phases, and 
settings in real life. "Something old, and something new."

In Woodvale Falls, I'm putting all that has gone before into one ultimate hybrid 
pastiche! And before I go "into character" and begin role-playing my newest gamebook 
world, I am curious to know a little about your third place (if that's what this is 
for you and you'd like to share), your team's world here, and your character(s). Our 
stories and imaginings might overlap some and enrich each other in a shared world, a 
third place that includes our arena, of course, but also expresses our shared dreams 
beyond. "Something old, and something new."

My parents met in a free-lovin' 1960s California mystical hippie cult, which was their 
third place. They flaked out, of course haha, on their real-life "duel" with each 
other before their shared dream, me, was even one year old. And "the rest was 
history." Fifty-four years today of struggles and fighting spirit! (Again, diplo me 
for details if you're curious haha or want to share yours.) Still here! Still 
fighting! Still not too wise, but less foolish than I was. haha

shared imagination, my third place; where I hang out, get to "wonder and dream" those 
awe dreams, just be myself, and get away from it all. (Everything is happening so 
much! What a whirled!)

                                      SPY REPORT

Greetings Lapurians, it is skull crushing time. Okay, okay how about butt kicking 
time, is that politically correct enough for ya? When I left you last time, Entitled 
Citizen had just turned the tables and wore the smell off of Duelmaster Skunk and 
claimed the title for her own. In reality. just another intermission. Sorry I didn't 
say this last time, but all Hail Duelmaster ENTITLED CITIZEN. Okay, okay, let's get on 
with my report before I put everyone to sleep.

We have two brand spanking new teams roll into town. A warm welcome from Lapur for the 
DEMONS OF SNOW and WOODVALE FALLS guilds. We also had two guilds returning from the 
shadows, Obergon and his WAR PARTY and Tripwire and his OF WOLF & MAN, welcome back. I 
hope you all stick around for awhile. So that gives us 14 teams in the rankings this 
week and from that we have 22 fights on the commission lists, five of which are 
challenge fights, and that leaves 17 randoms.

In team news, Vlad and his ALMOST EXACTLY crew recorded a 4-0-0 to take over the top 
spot and also earned them Team on the Move after gaining an impressive 69 points. 
Dropping to 2nd is Visionist and his MID EARTH band, who managed a 2-3-1. Rounding out 
the top 3 we have a tie between BLUE HERRINGS and BUFFALO TRACE '25, who each managed 
a 2-1-0 result. The Most Avoided team is naturally the Bloke and his AVOID ME! clan, 
who received 8 avoids, while multiple teams got 2 avoids.

The fight for the title, jeez this is getting boring. Once again SKUNK of AVOID ME! 
challenged title holder ENTITLED CITIZEN of ARMY OF DARKNESS, with the Bloke's rancid 
champion slimly losing to Master Beru's privileged Duelmaster. They once again wasted 
another 25 minute of our lives. You would think one of the others challenging the 
duelmaster would have gotten through. There was one death this week with a Captured 
Orc biting the dust.

DROP THE SOAP of ALMOST EXACTLY challenged ZAGRID of MID EARTH, with Vlad's slick 
warrior devastating Visionist's zombie warrior in 1 mismatched minute.

END OF BIDET (29-6849) of ALMOST EXACTLY challenged UPCHUCK of AVOID ME!, with Vlad's 
ceramic warrior claiming victory over the Bloke's gross warrior in a 2 minute brawl.

WINDLESS WHISPER of ALMOST EXACTLY challenged DAVIEL of MID EARTH, with Vlad's 
mumbling warrior devastating Visionist's harkeny warrior in a quick minute. I could 
have sworn these two managers were friends.

STOMPER ROOM of ALMOST EXACTLY challenged LITTLE FISHY of BLUE HERRINGS, with Vlad's 
heavy footed warrior savagely defeating Mr. Blue's minnow warrior in a 3 minute 
battle. Hmmm, all challenges were by Vlad, interesting.

Other arena notes...
The Biggest Winner and loser fought each other, WINDINHISHAIR gained 21 points and 
1.75L fell 20 points. This week's favorite is SUE CHEF, who was made famous by 
SNORLAX. The most popular style was Bashing, the most successful was Wall of Steel, 
and the least successful was Aimed Blow.

No fight of the week this time, but we do have two new invitees. Congrats to ENTITLED 
CITIZEN and ZAGRID, we honor you next time. And with that, I bring my report to a
