                             Notes from the arena champ.

Walking back to the locker rooms, EE set his weapon on the rack and ran a hand through 
his already receding hair. Stone Hinge. That made them 1 and 1. A nice balancing act.

His mind wandered as he removed his battle gear and cleaned it off. 

A throat cleared behind him. Turning around, he grinned.

"I thought they got all the riff-raff out of here," he asked as he grabbed a towel to 
wrap around his waist. 

"And I thought I told you there wasn't anything... significant enough... to cover up," 
she said with a mischievous tone. 

He lunged forward with his arms out to give a hug and she darted back.

"Don't you dare! You need a bath before you get to hug me," her hands took up a 
defensive posture and her feet were set in a solid position for his typical 
approaches.

He laughed, "I guess I'm defeated before I even begin." 

Turning back to his locker, he asked, "I thought you'd already be at the Isle."

"Soon. Boss is still evaluating things. Figured I'd deliver the big news..."

Working on the costume and focused on unwrapping a tangle, EE barely acknowledged the 
comment with a response, "Really?"

He felt a slap on the back of his head. Reflexively he attempted to grab the offending 
hand, but missed (like usual, if he was being honest). 

"Damn-it! I know you feel entitled to smack me around now that you're a Lord 
Protector, but... What?"

Her grin had a look of... what? Pride?

"Well, it isn't often I get to smack around a Duelmaster."

"Huh," he brilliantly riposted.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. And you wonder why I never attended your classes. Absolutely 
brilliant, as usual. You're the Duelmaster. You and Stone Hinge were the highest 
ranked warriors fighting today."

EE stood there dumbfounded. And then his towel dropped.

A few hours later, in significantly more clothing, EE stood in the Duelmasters Throne 
Room and shook his head. How in the world, did this happen? Did this actually mean 
there was a chance he might one day stand on the Isle of the Eye? Could the long shot 
pay off?

                                      SPY REPORT

Greetings fight fans! No invitee to honor this week and no obvious idea for an 
opening, so here is another edition of This Day in Lapurian Arena History. Thirty four 
years ago, yes 1992 or turn 163, there were 32 teams in the ranks and 59 matches. The 
newsletter is from the heyday and is 20+ pages, with multiple spotlights and even a 
spotlight Duelmaster column and multiple pages of personal ads. The Current Top Team 
was PUT UP YOUR DUKES. RUSTY of PUT UP YOUR DUKES held the title. The Most Popular 
warrior was PANTHERCLAW of ALLEY CATS and MINGLEWOOD was the Team on the Move after 
gaining 55 points. All in all, it's a fun nostalgic read and can be found at the 
Lapurian Arena Archives. Okay enough of the old and onto the new arena news.

The Wrathmen 20-12 reappeared out of the post tourney fog, welcome back and that gives 
us 15 teams in the ranks. The Top Team this week is once again Poke' and his MONsters, 
who managed a 3-2-0. Moving up from 3rd to 2nd is Neon and his Velvet warriors, who 
finally got a loss, but still managed a 2-1-0. Rounding out the top 3 is newcomer 
LIBATION 6, who had a 3-1-0 result. The Most Avoided is of course the Bloke and his 
AVOID ME! crew, who were avoided 7 times. A handful of other teams got 3 avoids for 
2nd best. The Team on the Move is POKE' MON, who gained 39 points, one more point than 
the thirsty newcomers.

From those teams we have 21 fights this week and that means two fights at night, six 
challenges and the remaining 13 are randoms. Let's get down to it. The fight for the 
throne  was between reigning champ ERRATIC EDUCATOR of ARMY OF DARKNESS fighting 
underachiever STONE HINGE of BLACK KELTS. Well is wasn't much of a fight with Master 
Beru's bizarre warrior overpowering Purple Sage's ancient warrior in a 1 minute match. 
All Hail the 2-time Duelmaster. 

Only 2 deaths this week, both warriors being recycled for hopeful better replacements 
I am sure. We salute your sacrifice.

Challenge fights...

JAGERBOMB of LIBATIONS 6 TV challenged POPPY POPPINS of BLACK KELTS, with the 
Barkeep's energetic warrior slimly claiming victory over Purple Sage's nanny warrior 
in a popular 3 minute match.

UPCHUCK of AVOID ME! challenged GRAKUS of MID EARTH, with the Bloke's retching warrior 
unbelievably besting Visionist's mysterious warrior in a popular 3 minute master's 
brawl.

FROSLASS of POKE' MON challenged SUE CHEF of ARMY OF DARKNESS, with Poke's fairy 
warrior narrowly defeating Master Beru's gourmet warrior in a 3 minute bloody 
competition.

LECHBUG of WOODVALE FALLS challenged MAEVE MANIAC of BLACK KELTS, with G's parasitic 
warrior claiming victory over Purple Sage's Irish warrior in a 3 minute fight.

PROUDBERRY of WOODVALE FALLS challenged 1.75L of BUFFALO TRACE '25, with G's unruly 
warrior being viciously subdued by Bison's factional warrior in a 1 minute 
competition.

PILSNER of LIBATIONS 6 challenged LOPUNNY of POKE' MON, with the Barkeep's Bohemian 
warrior viciously subduing coney warrior in a 3 minute duel.

My Fight of the Week goes to APOSTATE POSTMAN of ARMY OF DARKNESS, who fought HOUN DOG 
of CARDOW HUNTERS, with Master Beru's traitorous warrior being viciously subdued by 
Jorja's canine warrior in a 3 minute master's conflict. Well fought to you both!

Other arena notes...
This week's favorite is GRAKUS, who was made famous by UPCHUCK.
The most popular style was Bashing once more, the most successful was Parry Riposte, 
and the least successful was Parry Lunge.

We have another invitee. Congrats to Purple Sage's extreme veteran STONE HINGE. We 
honor him/her/it next time. That brings my report on another week of bouts on the sand
